Week 5

The Phonics Screening Check is fast approaching (the week beginning 9th June) so we have been spending time revisiting previous learning to help the Fantastic Foxes feel more confident. One area that children generally find challenging, is spotting split vowel digraphs in words. Over the coming weeks, please continue to read regularly with your child and if they make a mistake, ask them 'does that make sense' and encourage them to double check and correct themselves. This will help them in the Phonics Screening Check, as they will be more confident in having a few attempts at a word before giving me their final answer, as I am not allowed to ask them to try again - I have to take their final answer.

Trying to read road signs, shop names etc. when you are out and about could be really helpful in having the skills to tackle unknown words independently.

Wishing you all a wonderful half-term break!
