Week 5
What a Fantastic Week!
We’ve had an action-packed few days with Bikeability, our Ancient Greek Archaeology Day, and the Christmas Fayre!
I just want to say how proud I am of the children. They’ve shown responsibility, independence, and enthusiasm throughout every activity.
The Christmas Fayre was a huge success, with lots of visitors to our stalls. The children loved creating the games, and a big thank you to parents and carers for your support!
Bikeability was brilliant too! The instructors were full of praise for our Year 6s and said how much they enjoyed working with them.
Our pupils enjoyed an incredible day of hands-on learning during Ancient Greek Archaeology Day. The morning began with an introduction to real archaeological practices, where children explored authentic artifacts and learned how archaeologists discover, classify, and catalogue their finds. Using clues from the objects, pupils worked like detectives to uncover who these artifacts might have belonged to and what stories they tell.
One of the highlights was the immersive pottery reconstruction challenge. Children worked in teams to piece together broken pottery fragments, just like real archaeologists do, solving a 3D puzzle to reveal the original object. This activity not only tested their problem-solving skills but also gave them a true sense of the meticulous work involved in archaeology.
In the afternoon, pupils created their own Ancient Greek-inspired tiles and even tried their hand at making flour using a traditional grinding stone—an authentic method used thousands of years ago. These activities brought history to life, allowing children to experience the culture and daily practices of Ancient Greece in a fun and engaging way.
It was a day full of discovery, creativity, and immersive learning that our pupils!
