Week 2
Year 6 are having a great week so far.
In Maths, we introduced algebra for the first time. The children have approached this new topic with enthusiasm and curiosity, and they are already showing great understanding of how to create different algebraic expressions.
In English and Geography, the children have been researching the environmental impact of palm oil plantations, focusing on how deforestation threatens wildlife—particularly orangutans, who lose their habitats as a result. This has sparked some great discussions about sustainability and protecting our planet.
To put their learning into action, the children have started writing persuasive letters to companies, encouraging them to reduce or eliminate palm oil in their products. I am looking forward to reading their final letters!
