Week 4

This week, the children began a new English topic on explanation texts. They explored the features of this genre and learned how different verb tenses can change meaning within a sentence. The class showed great enthusiasm as they compared past, present, and future tenses and discussed how to identify them in a sentence.

In Maths, we focused on multiplying and dividing decimal numbers. The children practised using efficient methods and then applied their skills to a range of problem-solving questions. It was brilliant to see them persevering with more challenging tasks and explaining their reasoning.

Our History learning continued with the theme of the Victorians. This week, we looked closely at what life was like inside Victorian homes. The children enjoyed comparing Victorian houses to modern ones. We also completed our two page spread in Geography.

In Science, we explored what makes up a healthy diet. The children learned about the different food groups—such as proteins, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, and minerals—and discussed how each one helps our bodies to function properly. They showed great curiosity when matching foods to their nutritional benefits.
