Week 5 - National Storytelling Week

This week was National Storytelling Week. To celebrate we came to school in our pyjamas and brought our favourite teddies and books. Some of us brought some blankets and we got comfortable on the carpet listening to stories.

We enjoyed a workshop with the author Annemarie Anang where she read us some of her story 'I Am Nerfertiti' and encouraged us to use our bodies to help her to perform it. We were SO excited when she read out our suggestion! We enjoyed the story so much that we finished reading it altogether afterwards.

In the afternoon, we looked at some story spinners and used them to create some silly stories that we could tell each other. We had fun making our own story spinners and our own story books.

We have also started a new story for English, 'The Rainbow Bear' by Michael Morpurgo. We talked about the features of stories- that they have a beginning, middle and end. We worked in groups to create story paths using the three parts, that we will use to retell the story next week.
