Week 4 - Famous People

This week, we have been making the most of the lovely heatwave while remembering how to stay safe in the sun. We have learnt about the importance of keeping hydrated, wearing hats, applying sun cream and finding shady spots to help us keep cool during the warm weather.

We have also enjoyed finding out about famous people and the legacies they have left behind. In History, we have been learning about Florence Nightingale and the impact she had on nursing, while in English we have been inspired by the achievements of Katherine Johnson and her important contributions to space exploration.

Just like the footballers in the World Cup, we have been taking regular rehydration breaks to keep cool. During these breaks, we have enjoyed watching the BBC Teach True Stories videos and learning about inspiring people. We particularly enjoyed finding out about Thomas Barnardo, Edward Jenner (even if parts of his story were a little revolting!) and Grace Darling, and discovering how their actions changed lives and continue to be remembered today.
