Week 3

We won't be learning any new Phonics in Year One until after the Phonics Screening Check, which will take place in the week beginning 8th June. We will continue to revisit and consolidate key areas of Phonics in preparation for this assessment. Key phonics to focus on at home when reading with your child are the weekly phonics sheets, their reading book and also any other reading when you are out and about - such as street signs, shop names etc.

The split vowel digraphs usually feature heavily in the assessment as they are the hardest area of Phonics that we cover. Practising this with your child will help them to feel more confident.

You could use this Phonics Play website to help your child practice in a fun way - there are 3 free games to play.
