Week 6

It was school council election week this week. We enjoyed listening to the Year 5 children do their speeches for the roles of chair, vice chair, secretary and treasurer. Then we visited the polling station to make our votes.

We continued our work in history by learning about the space race. We learned that the United States of America and the Soviet Union were rivals to see who had the best scientists and technology to get to space first. We acted out the race on the field by pretending to be the countries and receiving a trophy for who was the first into space and who was the first to walk on the moon. It was great fun!

We have also been enjoying learning about the impasto style of art. We are creating our own flowers based on Van Gogh's 'Sunflowers'.

Collaboration at its finest...
