Home Learning Week 12 W/C 13th July

Hi Super Squirrels,

I cannot believe that this is the final week of your summer term as Year 3 Super Squirrels. I am so sorry that we cannot share this last week together, but GREAT news that in September we get to spend all day Thursday and also the Friday morning together. I will be in on these days along with Mrs Ursell and then will hand you over to your new teacher, Miss Shepherd, on Friday afternoon. Miss Shepherd is VERY excited about teaching you all and I have already told her what a super class you are. She is looking forward to seeing what you produce for her first Year 4 class gallery – transition activities can be found at the top of our home learning page. Please drop your work into school this week, or maybe when you collect your end of year report.

It is completely normal to be feeling anxious about returning to school, it is gong to be different for us all but remember that we are all in this together and we will help each other through it. Please email me using parent.contact@willington.derbyshire.sch.uk if you want to ask me anything or share any concerns, we could even arrange a socially distanced chat through the gates – I am in school on Friday 17th and Monday 20th if you would like to arrange this.

Although it has been the strangest of times for us all and we have had to adjust massively over the last few months, I still feel that we have made some great memories over the year – even though it has been a shorter one!!! You have all achieved so much in Year 3 and I am so proud of all of you. I hope you enjoy this little video I put together – it was lovely looking back at some of the things I have enjoyed with my Super Squirrels.

Have a great Summer all of you, I really cannot wait to see you all in September.

Take care Super Squirrels and stay safe.

P.S. Hopefully my sunflowers will continue to grow over the holidays and I’ll take some photos to show you when we are back in school.

LEARNING PROJECT

This week the Learning Project is titled: My Family.

The project this week aims to provide opportunities for your child to gain a better

understanding of their own family. Learning may focus on what different makeup of families, what traditions your family has, stories linked to your family etc.

Activities for you to choose from throughout the week:

Let us Wonder

Who is in your child’s immediate family? What other relatives do they have? How does their family link together? How many people do they have in their family? Why not spend time looking through old photos and talking about the people in their families? What family stories can they tell? How is life different to their parents? grandparents?

Let us Create

Create a piece of artwork titled ‘Family’. This could be a drawing, a self portrait, a sculpture or collage. Could they copy another artist's style? Which materials have they chosen to use and why? How do they feel about their piece of artwork? What would they change or not? Family portraits - https://www.google.com/search?q=paintings+of+families&tbm=isch&ved=2ahUKEwjyxPvMkZjoAhUDihoKHZwrBUAQ2-cCegQIABAA&oq=paintings+&gs_l=img.1.0.0i67l4j0l6.24000.27695..30116...1.0..0.140.1054.10j2......0....1..gws-wiz-img.....0..0i131.mm9IJBBvfqc&ei=lthrXvKhIIOUapzXlIAE&rlz=1C1RUCY_enGB687GB688&safe=strict

Be Active

Have a go at Go Noodle - https://www.gonoodle.com/ with the family or have a family workout. Maybe try this Harry Potter inspired Yoga - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R-BS87NTV5I&vl=en

Time to Talk

Perhaps they could play a board game, facetime a member of their family they have not seen this week, enjoy a family indoor picnic or have a family dinner.

Understanding Others and Appreciating Differences

Discuss how their family is different to other people’s families. Discuss whether all families are the same? Does it matter? Do all families have the same faith? Do all families worship in the same way?

Reflect

Find out what music their family members enjoy. Do they like the same music? What is their favourite song? They could listen to different pieces of music together with their family. Do they like/dislike any particular types of music and why? Can they Identify the instruments they can hear and describe how the music makes them feel? Why not get them to listen to some of the classics? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5VB1RvyfISM
