Week 2

Summer Term 1 - Week 2:

This week in history, the children have been thinking about what life would have been like for Mary Queen of Scots when she was in Tutbury Castle.  Using their knowledge gained from the trip last half term, the children wrote diary entries from her perspective, describing how she felt to be imprisoned by Elizabeth when she lived in the castle.

In English, the children have continued their work on Windrush Child.  They discussed the positive and negative issues which people would have faced with the prospect of moving to England from Jamaica after World War Two, and began to draft out a balanced argument about these thoughts.  The children will edit their work next week and then present it as a published piece of writing.

In maths, the work has focused on the theme of shape.  The children looked at different nets of shapes and had to visualise how they moved to create a 3D shape.  After predicting which edges would join up, they looked at a computer animation to show how the net would actually form together to create the closed 3D shape.
