We have learnt about the famous President of South Africa, Nelson Mandela, and how he was well known for wearing batik during his lifetime. He regularly wore loose-fitting patterned shirts to business and political meetings, instead of a formal suit. His batik clothing became known as the Madiba shirt, named after his clan.

We have designed shirts for Nelson Mandela and then today got to try out our pattern designs, using wax and fabric dye on fabric. They look amazing and so colourful.
