Class Gallery

Here is our completed class mouse on display in the hall.

We have all added to our class image by using our finger prints and turning them into individual mini mice.

As part of the infants 'Season' display, Year 2 have learnt about acrostic poetry and completed their own Season poem.
In Science, we have made icebergs and used them to find out about the properties of ice. First we looked at how they float in water and then we thought about how ice melts.
Later we used the icebergs to mix dyes and explore colour mixing.

Yamaha Music School visited us at school. We had great fun listening and singing along to the music!

Some of us even had the chance to use the keyboards.

We have enjoyed marbling our own paper and making a Titanic paper collage in Art.
During Arts Week, we learnt about an artist called Alma Woodsey Thomas. We looked at her painting 'Stormy Sea' and used it to help us create our own paintings. We learnt how to mix paint to make different tones of colour.
Look at some of the wonderful homework we have completed.

Thank you to Derbyshire Fire Service who have visited us to help us learn about fire safety.

We learnt to Stop, Drop and Roll if we are ever in the situation that our clothes catch fire, talked about firework and bonfire safety and learnt about fire safety in our homes. Please see the information sheet sent home and check your smoke alarms.

We have been working hard to make our writing more interesting by using adjectives, adverbs and conjunctions. Here is part of our current, sentence stacked fairy tale story.

Map Making and Using A Compass

We have been using a compass to follow different directions and looked at maps of the local area. We enjoyed using Google maps to find different places in Willington and have created our own maps with a friend.

Making Box Model Vehicles

We have been finding out how transport has influenced changes to our village and sequenced images of transport to create timelines.

Election Day!

Today, we learnt about how adults vote for members of parliament. We even discussed Brexit!

Later, we held our own ballot.  We voted for the film we wanted to see while we waited for our part in the Christmas Performance. It was very exciting!

We thought there was a clear majority but then we learnt, we had to add in the Year 1 children’s votes!

Christmas Decorations

We have made our Christmas cards this year, to carry a Christmas decoration for your tree at home.

Just a few of the Willington Homework Projects

Nottingham Playhouse visited and performed Pinnochio for Key stage 1 children.

Afterwards, Year 2 were also treated to a theatre workshop.

We had a go at a spot of acting in role and asked the actors lots of questions!

This half term, we have been learning about Kenya and have made pictures in the style of contemporary African artist, Sarah Shindu

SCIENCE

We had time to investigate our own school micro-habitat today. We found lots of interesting animals including a frog, squirrels, slugs, snails and even baby woodlice!

African Tales

We have completed our class sentence stacked story and will be working on our own soon.

Snow has suddenly arrived and we are all very excited!! Hopefully, tomorrow we'll get to play out on our field in our wellies.
