Week 3
This week was science week so we've had a whole week on Space! On Monday we had a science afternoon and made Rocket Mice! This activity involved shooting a rocket high into the air by rapidly squashing a plastic bottle launcher. We experimented with different size bottles to see which one made the rocket go the highest - we found the larges bottles did because they had more air to push the rocket higher! We had great fun experimenting! Here is the link to the video we watched if you want to have a look at home. We then wrote a sentence to describe our results and what we found out.
Phonics
This week in phonics we have been reading words with 2 or more digraphs.
We have read words like: sharp, sheep, shark, harsh, march, cheep, queen, chart, teeth, tooth, short, torch, singer, thinker, powder, corner, farmer and more!
We also practiced all of our tricky words and the spellings of them too.
Maths
In maths, we have been learning our number bonds to 10! We learnt a song to the tune of 'Row Row Row Your Boat' to help is, it goes like this... "9 and 1 are number bonds, 8 and 2 are friends, 7 and 3 and 6 and 4 and 5 and 5 are twins!" We also used a ten frame and jaffa cakes to work out the number bonds too... see pictures!
