Week 7

Autumn Term 1 - Week 7:

In maths this week, we have been learning long division.  The children worked really hard to learn the method and have begun to build up their confidence with using this method of arithmetic in their maths work.  An example of this method can be found below.

In English, we have begun to write a remembrance poem.  We listened to the poem called 'We Remember' by Laura Mucha and thought about the sights, sounds and feelings associated with war and the reasons for remembrance.  We then began to write our own poems based on these ideas.  We will read some of the poems in the village remembrance service in November.

We have also been learning about Black History Month during the week.  We learnt about the British Empire and how this developed centuries ago and also how Michelle Obama became such an influential African-American from her childhood in Chicago, to becoming the First Lady of the USA.
