Week 3

Week 3

This week we took part in 'National Nursery Rhyme Week'. Our learning was based around a different nursery rhyme each day so we've been doing a lot of singing!

Monday was 'The Big Ship Sails' - we drew boats step by step, coloured them in and outlined them in pen.

Tuesday was '1, 2, 3, 4, 5 once I caught a fish alive' - we enjoyed singing the song with actions. In the afternoon, we had special visitors from St. Wilfrids in Barrow-on-Trent for a project called '1000 angels'. The children made angels to hang in the church over Christmas to celebrate the church being 1000 years old. I will provide details of an open weekend next week if you would like to visit and see the display and maybe spot your child’s angel too!

Wednesday was 'Five Little Speckled Frogs'. We learnt all about frogs and labelled a frog using our phonics and writing skills.

Thursday was 'BINGO (was his name-o)' - we talked about dogs and the different jobs they do and enjoyed adding our friends names into the song instead of BINGO - we thought this was really funny!

Friday was 'Twinkle Twinkle'. To end the week we made shortbread star biscuits and enjoyed eating them at the end of the day.

Phonics

This week we learnt 3 new sounds - z/zz, qu and ch. We also learnt how to read CVC words with a 's' on the end. Mrs Braddock taught us to cover up the 's', read the CVC word and then add the 's' back on at the end.

I will now attach a 'home learning sheet' each week which includes all of the words and tricky words we have read during the week... please see attachment below.
