Spring Term 2

Our new topic this half term is an historical topic about explorers called

‘Why were Neil Armstrong and Christopher Columbus such brave men?’

During this topic we will be thinking about:

  • What is it like to be an astronaut?
  • Who is Neil Armstrong?
  • What was it like travelling to the moon?
  • What was the first lunar landing like?
  • Who was Christopher Columbus and why is he famous?
  • What would Columbus’s journey have been like?
  • Can we organize a meal for an expedition?
  • Why were Columbus and Armstrong such brave men?
  • Would I prefer to be Neil Armstrong or Christopher Columbus?

Alongside our topic, we will also be thinking about animals (including humans) during our Science lessons.

We will be learning about the stages of development and how to keep healthy. We will also be looking at the life cycle of animals, especially butterflies, and will be having some chicks/ducklings and caterpillars of our own to observe.

We will also be designing, making and eating a special exploration picnic.

There will be an additional letter sent home later for more information and return the permission slip to school.
