Week 5

What a lovely sunny week we have had, we enjoyed lots of time in our outdoor area and even planted one of the flowerbeds with lots of lovely, colourful Violas!

We have used the Balance Bikes this week on the playground during our 'choosing time'.

Our cress had grown lots and we've talked lots about growth and sunlight. Our cress we grew in the cupboard with no light is looking very yellow and we talked about why. 

Our book of the week this week was 'The Three Little Pigs'. We loved joining in with the repeating phrases and pretending to be the wolf huffing and puffing! 

In maths we have been working on addition Number Sentences and used the language first, then, now. For example, first we had 4 blocks, then we had 2 blocks now we have 6 blocks. We then made this into a number sentence 4 + 2 = 6 

In phonics we have continued Phase 4 and have read longer words this week and also compound words. Again we have had to chunk these words up into their syllables and then blend the chunks together to read the whole word, for example... sh-a-m/p-oo.

Here are some of the words we have read: tantrum, forest, printer, chapter, blanket, blossom, shampoo, children, chimpanzee, second, present, windmill, sandpit, handstand and lunchbox.
