Spring Term 1

This half term, we will be learning about the continent of Africa and the country 'Kenya' which we will be comparing to Willington.

During this topic we will be thinking about:

• What can we learn about the world we live in?

• Where is Kenya?

• What are the main differences in the climate of Kenya and England?

• What animals would you find in Kenya?

• What is life like there?

• Can we create a Kenyan exhibition?

We will be looking very closely at maps and globes of the world and will identify the seven continents and five oceans of the world.

Whilst learning about African art and music, we will be making African masks and learning about rhythm and pulse.

Science

We will also be thinking about living things and their habitat.                                                                                                                We will be learning about what a habitat is and what different habitats  we can find across the world.

We will be thinking about the habitats that we can find in Kenya, as well as, learning about the micro-climate that we find in our school grounds. Furthermore, we will be looking at simple food chains.
