Week 6

Week 6

Another lovely, sunny week to end this half-term! Again, we have enjoyed lots of time outside, playing bat and ball, digging, reading and writing with chalk.

Our book of the week this week was 'The Jolly Postman'. We loved reading about his adventure as he delivers letters around fairy-tale land! We loved opening the envelopes to read a letter from Goldilocks, a postcard addressed to a giant up a beanstalk... and even a note for the Big Bad Wolf!

Phonics

This week in phonics we read read words ending in -ing, -ed, and -est. Some of the -ed words were tricky as some make a /t/ sound eg. helped sounds like help-t and some make an /id/ sound eg. trusted sounds like trust-id.

We have enjoyed watching our cress grow. To end the week we had a picnic outside and ate sandwiches containing our cress! We made our own sarnies, buttered them, chose the filling and added cress if we wanted it. Then we enjoyed eating them outside on the new picnic benches! The children came home with their cress plants on Thursday so I hope they offer to make their grown ups a sandwich for lunch over the holidays!
