Year 6

The Dynamic Deers - Year 6

Welcome to The Dynamic Deers Year 6 webpage for 2022 - 2023.  Miss Twigg and myself look forward to teaching your child in Year 6 throughout the year.  Mrs Brown will also be teaching the children on a Tuesday afternoon.

Please click on the links below to find out information about our class and keep looking at this page to see images of what we have been learning in school.

During the second half of the summer term, we will be having PE on a Monday morning.  Therefore, the children should come to school wearing their PE kit on a Monday.  (Please see the PE kit letter on the Year 6 letter section for more guidance on this).

If you would like to speak with me, please feel free to chat to me on the playground at the end of the day.  Alternatively, you can contact me using the following email address: Deer@willington.derbyshire.sch.uk  Class Dojo will no longer be used as a communication tool as it was during the period of COVID-19 lockdown.  Information about your child and the class will be sent out on Parenthub.

Please also take time to click on the updated online safety helpsheet page and discuss any relevant sheets and topics with your child.

Many thanks,

Mr Rodgers

Anti-Bullying Week 14th November 2022

National Anti-Bullying Week was held during the week of 14th November 2022.  We carried out lots of different activities within class, discussing both online and bullying which does not occur online.  The link below shows a document which you may wish to download and discuss with your child at home regarding what to do if they see online bullying or if it happens to them.  It is a flowchart which can be used to help the child to make the correct decision if they see this situation online.

Homework

As part of the children's homework, the children should aim read at home for between 4 and 5 times each week.  Please could adults monitor this by signing in their reading journals weekly.  Also as part of their reading, the children should talk about their books and the characters/plot within it.  Please could children discuss their books with their adults at least once each week.

Also as part of their homework, children should be playing TTRockstars and Spelling Shed 4 times each week for about 10 minutes on each session.  Please find the links to these below.  If your child would like to play 'Hit The Button' for their times tables practise, please could an adult sign this in their reading journal during the weekly aduult signature in their home journals to let me know that this has happened.
