We are enjoying our English work based on 'The Street Child' by Berlie Doherty.

We have been reading about Jim's plans to escape the workhouse in search of a better life and today we have thought about reasons for and against Jim staying. We had lots of great class discussion about reasons for and against, before completing a 'conscious alley' activity where someone got to walk down the alley, in role as Jim, while the children whispered reasons for or against him escaping. 

Back in class, we split into small groups and wrote a short persuasive speech either 'for' or 'against' Jim's escape.
