Visiting the Ducklings
We really enjoyed meeting the ducklings - they are so cute!
One of them even fell asleep as we stroked him.
FRUIT TWIST
* We looked carefully at both the outside and the inside of different fruits and vegetables.
* We sketched the outline of one fruit or vegetable and filled this with the flesh of another fruit or vegetable.
* We then chose our favourite sketch to paint, working very hard to mix the correct colours.
Pepper Plants
During our work on plants, we have been learning about seed dispersal. We looked inside this pepper and found it's seeds! We left the seeds overnight to dry, before planting our own pepper seeds.
We are now giving them sunlight and water and are hoping that our seeds will soon start to grow.
Ancient Greece Homework Projects
Once again, I am amazed by the effort you have put into these projects. Well done Year 3!
Greek Pots
We got messy covering our pots with papier mache pulp.
We left them to dry.
Angry Earth Homework Projects
Once again Year 3 - these are amazing!
The Flood
We have finished our sentence stacking based on 'The Flood.'
This linked really well with our topic work on 'Angry Earth.'
We especially enjoyed our 'Experience' day.
It was shocking to find that a natural disaster had destroyed our classroom.
This led to great discussions about how we would feel if we experienced a natural disaster in real life.
It was fantastic to see how well everyone worked as a team to put our classroom back together.
Prehistoric Britain
What fantastic homework projects - well done everyone!
Cave Paintings
We have looked at photographs of discovered cave paintings, which date back to prehistoric times.
We have written messages to each other in the style of cave art and have then enjoyed designing and creating our own cave paintings.
We especially enjoyed using scrunched up paper towels dipped in watered down paint to create our cave backgrounds - this got a little messy!
Calendars
We have used metallic paints and cotton buds to create our pointillism calendars.
They look amazing!
Writing
Well done Year three! I am so impressed with your independent writing based on 'The Blue Umbrella.'
Before we started to plan our own story, we WALKED through the original story. This really helped us to focus on the main events of the story. We linked each event back to our fabulous Sentence Stacking display to remind us of the wonderful language and vocabulary we had used.
Spellings for this week....
What an AMAZING class assembly!
