Summer Term 1 - Week 6:
This week in maths, the children have been applying their skills to designing a garden. They measured two sides of the fence around the wildlife area and then calculated the perimeter and area of the whole garden. After drawing a design of this to scale in their maths books, the children were given a list of different items which they could buy, along with the costings of these. Using a budget of £2000, the children were given the task of designing their ideal garden, ensuring that they did not spend over their £2000 budget.
All the children really enjoyed this task and realise the importance of maths and how it relates to the real world.
