Another week of great learning and the sun shone throughout – a fabulous way to end this half term! We started the week with PE where the children took part in athletic style events including throwing, catching, running and most importantly, teamwork! The children were in teams of 4 and wowed Rosie and I with their support and encouragement.
Throughout the rest of the week, we wrote our independent stories where we continued our Aladdin narrative. The children were focused on including the success criteria and making sure they stuck to the plot points they’d planned. Once they finished their stories, we took some time to edit them focusing on spelling and punctuation.
In maths, we completed our learning on money then on Thursday each child had a go on the website that they will be completing the MTC on. Whilst I took groups out to complete this, the rest had a go at some money problem solving challenges like the one below, before that really worked their mathematical skills!
In Science, we had great fun enhancing our knowledge of the digestive system where we made our own model to help us verbally explain the process of digestion. We used a food bag to represent our stomach and a stocking as our small intestine. The children were surprised with how the banana and crackers (food) ended up by the end of the process (waste that can’t be absorbed by the body) but it really helped them to understand the functions of the basic parts of the digestive system.
Reminder that Learning Logs are due back on Monday 5th June.
