Week 2

Spring Term 2 - Week 2

We have had another busy week in Year 6 this week.  On Tuesday, the children went on a class trip to Tutbury Castle along with the Year 5 class.  They began the day with a talk from 'Mary Queen of Scots' in Tutbury church and then got to ask questions to her about her life.  Following a walk up to the castle, the children visited the Great Hall where Mary was detained and learnt more about her life whilst at Tutbury.  In the afternoon, the children learnt about different musical instruments which were played during Tudor times and how music was such an important part of Tudor life.

This week, the children across the whole school have taken part in 'Take One Book Week'.  On Monday, the children were introduced to the book 'Flooded' by Mariajo Ilustrajo and the implications of climate change on the flooding crisis around the world.  Using this book as a stimulus, the children then planned and wrote their own whole class story based upon a group of deer becoming flooded.  This book will now be displayed in the library for the rest of the school to read.
