Week 3
In art with Mrs Lawrence, the children have been learning about sculpture and the work of Jaume Plensa. Jaume Plensa sculpted Dream in 2008, a 20-metre-tall design made out of 90 pieces of white rock (dolomite) and concrete. The sculpture takes the form of the head and neck of a nine-year-old girl. Her eyes are closed in meditation as she dreams about her future. This week, we used clay and tools to sculpt heads using techniques such as rolling, cutting, molding and carving.
