Home Learning Ideas for Mrs Braddock's Happy Hedgehogs

Summer Learning from June 2020 for EYFS, Year 1 and Year 2

Still working together as an infant team, Mrs Braddock and Miss Pritchard will be working in school a little more leaving Mrs Miller to take over infant home-schooling details on the website for the next few weeks.

We have decided to use whole school ‘Learning Projects’ with the theme being the same for all year groups to help make learning easier to support across differing year groups. The activities will also be covered by the children within school and it will mean at home, brothers and sisters can learn together!

You will still be able to contact us all at school and through our parent contact…..

Don't forget you can also use Tapestry or Twitter.

We do love seeing all the work you are doing and the fun you are having at home but please remember to do as many of the activities or tasks as you feel you are able to manage. There is no expectation to complete all listed activities as we recognise that each family is managing the best they can in different circumstances.

Last week, we all put on our ‘Home Learning’ suggested timetables that are similar to the structures of our normal school day and may help you with timetabling activities at home. These will continue to apply should you wish to use them.

The additional websites we have already suggested will also continue to be helpful especially the sites that the children have accounts for, as they contain key information and facts that each year group is advised to learn. Try to continue to use regularly….

  • Spelling Shed
  • Numbots

We have also put together some material to support you in talking to and preparing your children for some of the changes taking place in society, as a result of the Coronavirus.  We hope this will continue to help support you further.

Mrs Miller, Miss Pritchard and Mrs Braddock.

Mrs Braddock's Note from 18/5/20

I hope you are all keeping well and safe! I am really missing seeing you all at school but have loved seeing what so many of you are up to on Tapestry - please keep sharing if you can! Below I will upload a document each week, including lots of activities that you can do at home. Please don't worry if you don't complete everything, they are there as a guide.

I will be updating Spelling Shed with new word lists for you to keep practicing too. I have also added the Homework menu which would have been sent home this term and, as always, feel free to do as many (or few) of these ideas as possible, they are linked to our Summer Term topic which is 'Down at the Bottom of the Garden'.

Our ‘Great Willington Bake Off’ continues!! This week, Mr Braddock is challenging you to make a Cornflake Tart - yummy served with custard! Have a look on Twitter to see who’s had a go at baking already! If you do make anything please send pictures to either Tapestry, tweet them to @WPSDerbyshire or send them to the parent contact email address. We’d love to see what you’ve been up to!

If at any point you are unsure of what you are doing and would like advice or want to show me your work, you can always use the email address.

Thinking of you and sending you all my very best wishes,

Mrs. Braddock
