Week 2

This week, we have enjoyed learning even more about our topic 'Ancient Egypt.' In writing, we began watching the short film 'Tadeo Jones' which we are using as writing stimulus - we are building up to write a detailed setting description of an Egyptian tomb. To gain an even better understanding, in our history and whole class reading lessons we learnt about the Egyptian pyramids. We enjoyed looking into the Great Pyramid in Giza and also learning about why the ancient Egyptians built them followed by writing our own fact files. 

In maths, we are getting stuck into addition and subtraction. As a class, we've talked about the importance of presentation when setting out formal written methods and have really worked hard to do this correctly in our books. We've also enjoyed going on TT Rockstars as this week was an interschool competition week!

In music, we began learning a song that we will be performing as part of our concert near Christmas. As soon as I have received this from Bex, our music teacher from Derbyshire Music Hub, I will upload onto this page so everyone can practise at home. 

To finish the week, we had our first spelling test which all children worked really hard in. Let's keep this up! We also completed our Badminton lessons where we continued to work on our rally skills and then went on to learn about the 'smash shot' when attacking against an opponent!
