Week 1

 

We've had a great, busy week back following the Easter break! The children were excited to share their Learning Log creations and I was so impressed with the hard work put in to these. Every child presented their favourite piece to their classmates and we even got the opportunity to have a go at some of them like the multiplication games.

On Tuesday, we enjoyed a Road Safety talk from Andy Adlington from Highways DCC - he was really impressed with the children's understanding and awareness of how to stay safe out on the roads. 

In English, we started our new writing focus of traditional tales where we read the first part of 'Aladdin and the Enchanted Lamp' by Philip Pullman. We worked in pairs to complete a character study of Aladdin and compared how our thoughts of him changed within the first part of the book. 

In Maths, we have begun looking at decimals where we learnt about tenths. 

We also completed our learning on sound where we investigated different sized 'sound enhancers' (cones), predicting which we would help us to hear better and looked at the position and shape of animal ears. The children learnt how to sign their own names and had fun signing to their partners. 

Finally, the children worked on their audio production learning in computing where they created a podcast on 'Audacity' about the weather. The children really impressed Mrs Lea with their teamwork and
