Week 1

Summer Term 2 - Week 1:

The children have begun their final half term at Willington Primary School and have enjoyed a very busy week.

In maths, the children have investigated pentominoes.  They worked out the total number of different pentomino possibilities and then used these to fill in different sized grids.  As the grid size got larger, the challenge increased.  The children really enjoyed this investigation work, applying their problem solving, logic and spatial awareness skills.

In PSHE, the children have been discussing being safe on the roads.  They watched a video from 'Think' about crossing the road safely.  The children then looked at Google Street View to find places around their village which were safe places to cross the road and those places which were dangerous.  Finally, these places were then plotted on a map.
