We've had a brilliant week in Year 4 this week which has been filled with festive fun and fantastic performances! On Monday, KS2 had their Christmas Carol Performance where they learnt and performed lots of Christmas songs. This included the LKS2 song 'White Christmas' where we also performed the song in Makaton and wowed all who were able to attend the afternoon and evening performances. On Thursday, we had our first music concert performing on our violins and cello's. Miss Shepherd was so impressed with all the children's efforts and can't believe how far we've come in the 5 weeks of learning how to play these instruments. We performed 9 songs in total including a few festive treats such as 'Silent Night' and 'Jingle Bells'! Thank you to all who were able to come along and support the children in these performances. Across the rest of the week, we enjoyed watching the KS1 and EYFS performances and ended the week with Christmas jumper day and a delicious Christmas dinner!
In Maths, we've started focusing on multiplication and division - we'll be learning and investigating times tables up to 12 x 12 which will be key for our learning going forward, along with preparing for the Multiplication Table Check which will be happening later in the academic year.
In Science, we've started learning about electricity and are very excited to be using the skills learnt for our DT project of light up Christmas cards next week. We enjoyed making circuits using wires, cells, bulbs, buzzers and motors, as well as learning about common appliances we use in our lives that are either battery or mains powered.
In art, we painted our canopic jars and will be finishing these of next week by adding extra detail.
