Literacy-Reading and Writing

Under the Sea

This week linked to our Learning Project, stories for the infants are Sharing a Shell and A Hole At The Bottom Of The Sea. However The Snail and the Whale is mentioned again this week, as re-reading and learning parts of favourite texts and rhyming stories is especially important for language development in the Early Years .

I have included Sharing A Shell story sequencing picture cards for the children to order and then retell the story to develop language skills and some writing frames/worksheets so that the children can choose a picture from the story Sharing a Shell to help them think about a sentence to write. They must remember to try to use finger spaces between each word and remind them to think of the school writing FANTASTICS (Write Stuff- Jane Considine) so that they use some descriptive words to make their sentences interesting.
