Statement of Intent

At Willington Primary School, it is our intent to provide all children with a broad and balanced curriculum that aims to assist children and young people to prepare for adult life by supporting their physical, emotional and moral development, and helping them to understand and respect themselves, respect others as well as forming and sustaining healthy relationships. This will be implemented by creating a programme of study that is bespoke to our school and all our children. At Willington Primary School, we teach discrete PSHE lessons and filter PHSE skills throughout all aspects of school life.

 

PSHE includes the teaching of the following, which is a statutory part of the National Curriculum:

  • Relationships Education

Families and people who care for me

Caring friendships

Respectful relationships

Online relationships

Being safe

 

  • Physical health and mental wellbeing

Mental wellbeing

Internet safety and harms

Physical health and fitness

Healthy eating

Drugs, alcohol and tobacco

Health and prevention

Basic first aid

Changing adolescent body

 

In addition, PSHE includes the teaching of the following which is not a statutory part of the National Curriculum:

  • Sex Education (Primary)
